Autumn

Daylight savings is over. The sun is lower in the sky. Halloween decorations are up around the neighborhood...and we are down to our last dozen jars.
We do have some saved in reserve, so we may decide to fill a few more jars if it looks like demand will keep up. Or we may just save it in case of requests.

We had a large sale this weekend, for which we are very grateful.  If it was you, thank you so much!

Sadly, our hive succumbed to wax moths a few weeks ago. They were thriving, but I think they may have decided to swarm, and I don't think the new queen was very robust. The loss in population and a very slow start in raising new brood left the colony susceptible to invasive pests and the wax moths did extensive damage. We tried to relocate the colony into new, clean equipment but it was too late.

We will start with a new colony next spring--a new queen and package of bees--but all this means that the honey production will be delayed and therefore smaller than these past couple of years have been.  But look for us again in June or July. We'll be back.
